Description
Bronchiectasis is a long-term lung condition in which the airways become permanently widened and damaged.
This makes it harder to clear mucus from the lungs. The trapped mucus can allow bacteria to grow, leading to repeated chest infections and flare-ups. Many people experience an ongoing cough, increased mucus production, breathlessness and tiredness that can affect daily activities and quality of life.
Although current treatments can help manage symptoms, many people continue to experience flare-ups. New treatment options are needed.
