Locations
Bronchiectasis is a chronic lung condition that affects the airways. It is a serious and often debilitating condition that makes it harder for people to breathe and fight off lung infections.
Normal function of the lungs is disrupted, leading to a build-up of mucus that is difficult to clear. Over time, this cycle of infection and damage worsens, making the airways even more prone to problems.
Current treatment often includes antibiotics, therapies to clear mucus, or anti-inflammatory medicines, but for many people this is not enough. However, there are no current treatments in New Zealand that address the underlying inflammation effectively.
This study is investigating a potential new treatment that aims to target inflammation in the lungs through blocking a pathway called IL-33. The hope is that this treatment can potentially reduce the number of flare-ups, improve quality of life, and provide a new option for those living with Bronchiectasis.
Participants will be randomly assigned to receive an injection every 12 weeks, with 60% of participants receiving the investigational treatment and 40% receiving a placebo (an inactive treatment).
You’ll attend regular clinic visits for health assessments, including blood pressure monitoring, kidney function tests, and general health check-ups.
Our professional clinical team will closely monitor your health and safety throughout the study and follow up period.
