Description

Coeliac disease is an autoimmune condition that develops in genetically predisposed people. It involves an immune response to gluten containing foods such as wheat, barley and rye found in bread, cereals, pasta and baked goods.

The only current treatment is to maintain a lifelong, strict gluten-free diet, which can be extremely challenging. Even with a strict gluten-free diet, some people continue to experience symptoms and intestinal damage. Inevitable breaks in the diet can lead to uncomfortable symptoms such as diarrhoea, abdominal pain, and bloating that disrupt everyday life. In addition, the availability of gluten-free food varies widely between countries and regions, and the cost is often significantly higher than that of gluten-containing options.

This study is testing an investigational treatment designed to target immune reactions triggered by gluten peptides in people with a specific genetic type. By neutralising these immune signals, the treatment may improve gut healing and reduce symptoms.

This study is evaluating whether the treatment can:

·         Reduce abdominal pain, bloating, nausea and diarrhoea

·         Improve small intestinal lining health

·         Reduce immune activity related to gluten

·         Improve overall quality of life

What to expect

Participants will be randomly assigned to receive one of three dose levels of the investigational medicine or a placebo (inactive injection).

All participants continue their gluten-free diet. Injections are given under the skin, with regular visits for symptom tracking, blood tests, and endoscopies.

Your health and safety will be closely monitored by a professional clinical team throughout the study.
