Obesity and Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Study

Study details
Ages
18 to 75 years old
Duration
Approximately 48 weeks followed by a 5 week safety follow up. Regular clinic visits will be required

Eligibility Criteria
You may qualify if you:
- Are 18 to 75 years old
- Have Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, diagnosed for at least 6 month
- Are overweight with a BMI ≥ 25 – our medical team can access this for you
- Are currently managing your diabetes with diet and exercise WITH/WITHOUT treatment with Metformin or a SGLT-2 inhibitor
You may not qualify if you:
- Have Type 1 Diabetes
- Have a history of weight loss surgery
- Currently using injectable medications for T2DM control

Description
Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus, or T2DM, is a long-term condition where the body can’t use insulin effectively. This causes high blood sugar levels. When combined with being overweight or obese, it increases the risk of serious health issues like heart disease, stroke, and kidney problems.
Managing T2DM can be challenging. Even with healthy eating, exercise and medication, many people still struggle to keep their blood sugar in check or lose weight. Fatigue, hunger, and other daily symptoms can make it hard to maintain consistent progress in managing the condition.
This study is exploring a new weekly treatment that aims to help those with T2DM and excess weight better manage their blood sugar levels, support weight loss and improve overall health outcomes.
What to expect
Participants will be randomly assigned to receive a weekly dose of either the investigational medication or a placebo by subcutaneous (under the skin) injection. The investigational medication is designed to help improve blood sugar levels and support meaningful weight loss.
You will visit the clinic regular for health assessments and healthy lifestyle counselling. Your safety and well-being will be closely monitored by a professional clinical team.
