- Can visit the Pukekohe Momentum clinic for appointments

Description
Psoriasis is a chronic autoimmune condition that affects the skin, causing red scaly patches that can be itchy, painful and can sometimes bleed. Psoriasis occurs when the immune system speeds up skin cell production, leading to excessive build up. It affects millions worldwide, with symptoms often fluctuating in intensity. It is physically uncomfortable but also impacts self-esteem, mental health and daily activities.
Current psoriasis treatments focus on managing symptoms through topical creams phototherapy and systemic medications. While these treatments can be effective, they don’t work for everyone. Ongoing clinical research is exploring new therapies, including more targeted biologics, oral medications, and innovative immune-modulating treatments.
