Do you or your child (age 5 years and above) currently have a sore throat and fever (≥38.0°C)?
Momentum Clinical Research is conducting a clinical research study that evaluates the accuracy of a new rapid molecular test for diagnosing Group A Streptococcal pharyngitis (Strep Throat). If you or your child are experiencing a sore throat, fever, or swollen glands, you may be eligible to participate.
While there is no direct health benefit to you, your participation may help advance the development of rapid diagnostic tests for Strep A. This may lead to faster, more accurate diagnoses and better patient management in the future.

Participation involves a single clinic visit lasting approximately 30 minutes.
Compensation
Participants will be paid for time and study-related costs.
Eligibility Criteria
You or your child (age 5 years and above) may qualify for this study if you
- Have a sore throat AND
- Are experiencing at least two of the following:
- high temperature (≥38.0°C)
- swollen tonsils
- swollen/tender lymph nodes
- lack of a cough
- Have not used antibiotics in the last 14 days
Other criteria will apply.

Description
Group A streptococcal (GAS) pharyngitis, commonly known as Strep A or Strep Throat, is a common bacterial infection that can cause a severe sore throat, fever, and difficulty swallowing. It spreads easily and is especially common in children and young people.
Most sore throats are caused by viruses and get better on their own. However, Strep A is different and usually requires antibiotics to prevent complications and support recovery.
Testing for Strep A can sometimes take 1–2 days if samples are sent to a laboratory. This can delay getting the right treatment or lead to antibiotics being used when they may not be needed.
This study is evaluating a new rapid molecular diagnostic test designed to detect Strep A quickly and accurately at the point of care. The test uses advanced molecular technology to identify bacterial genetic material, aiming to provide reliable results within a much shorter timeframe.
What to expect
Participation involves a single clinic visit lasting about 30 minutes. Study staff will collect three throat swabs to be tested with the investigational rapid test and standard laboratory methods.
No blood draws or medications are involved.
