An average of approximately 4 and a half years.

Compensation

Participants will be reimbursed for attending study visits and for reasonable travel expenses.

Eligibility Criteria

You may be eligible to take part if you: 

  • Are 65 years or older
  • Have had a urinary tract infection (UTI) in the past two years. 
  • Be in good health or have medical conditions that are well controlled.
  • Have been hospitalised in the last 2 years for any reason OR
  • Had a kidney or bladder condition such as one of the following: Cancer, chronic kidney disease, urinary catheter, urine incontinence, urinary retention, kidney/bladder stones, enlarged prostate (males only), prolapse or pelvic floor issues (females only).

Description

Are you 65+ and had a UTI (urinary tract infection) in the last two years?
People aged 65 years or older, with a urinary tract infection, are at increased risk of developing a bloodstream infection caused by E. coli bacteria.

What to expect

We are inviting volunteers to take part in a vaccine research study exploring an investigational treatment for the prevention of Invasive Extraintestinal E. coli infection (IED) and other infections in adults aged 65 years and older with a history of UTI’s.

Participants will attend regular appointments with our study team and receive either the study drug or placebo during the treatment period.

Eligible participants will be reimbursed for attending study visits and for reasonable travel expenses.
