Dr Deon Gouws

Deon is an experienced clinician and medical leader with deep expertise in clinical research and the clinical trials ecosystem. His background spans clinical practice, medical leadership and senior roles within global pharmaceutical organisations, including Janssen and Eli Lilly. He has worked closely with sponsors, CROs, investigators and research sites across Australia and New Zealand.

Deon continues to practise clinically as a Principal Investigator and provides leadership across investigator and specialist engagement nationally. He has overseen approximately 70 Phase II–III(b) clinical studies and brings extensive experience working with global R&D and medical affairs teams.

He holds degrees in Science, Medicine and Surgery, and Law, alongside postgraduate qualifications including a Master of Medicine and an MBA. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners, holds current clinical appointments with NSW Health, and is undertaking a part-time PhD.
