Dr Jo Finlay is a Principal Investigator at Momentum Clinical Research Christchurch and a Fellow of the Royal New Zealand College of General Practitioners (FRNZCGP). With more than 20 years of experience in general practice across rural Australia, Sydney, and Christchurch, she brings extensive clinical expertise and a strong commitment to patient-centred care.
Over the past six years, Dr Finlay has been actively involved in clinical research, working with study participants and multidisciplinary research teams to advance the development of new treatments and improve health outcomes. She is passionate about providing access to innovative therapies and contributing to research that helps shape the future of healthcare.
Dr Finlay's particular clinical interests include cardiometabolic health and dementia prevention and treatment. She is especially interested in research that explores opportunities to improve long-term health outcomes, promote healthy ageing, and enhance quality of life through early intervention and evidence-based care.
As a Principal Investigator, Dr Finlay oversees the conduct of clinical trials in accordance with Good Clinical Practice and regulatory requirements, ensuring the highest standards of participant safety, ethics, and scientific integrity. She values the opportunity to bridge everyday clinical practice with cutting-edge research, helping bring new treatment options to patients and communities.
Drawing on her experience in diverse healthcare settings, from rural communities to large urban centres, Dr Finlay combines practical clinical insight with a dedication to advancing evidence-based medicine through high-quality research.
Outside of work, Jo enjoys spending time with her family, attempting to improve her golf game, and exploring the outdoors whenever she has the opportunity.
