What to Expect

Curious to know what to expect when you register for a clinical trial with Momentum Clinical Research? We’ll guide you through every step of the process, from the initial pre-screening phone call to your clinic visits and follow-up care. You’ll learn about the key stages of participation, including how we assess your eligibility, what happens during your first visit, and the support you’ll receive throughout the study.

Participant Journey

Curious about what it's like to join a clinical trial? Watch a participant's journey.

Step by Step - What to Expect

  1. Once you register your interest in a study, we start with a pre-screening phone call from one of our staff. We’ll ask about your health history and give you some details about the study.
  2. Following this, if you feel you would like to consider participating in the study, and we think you qualify, we’ll send you the ethics committee approved participant information sheet so you can read more about the study.
  3. A day or two later, we’ll call to see if you’d like to come to our clinic for a screening visit, which usually takes 2 to 3 hours.  You’ll be paid compensation for your time and travel.
  4. Your first visit to our clinic will begin with a warm welcome at reception. We may ask you to watch a short patient information video to help you better understand the study.
  5. Next, you’ll meet with the study doctor, who will further explain the research and answer any questions you may have. If you’re happy to proceed, you and the doctor will sign the informed consent agreement, and the study procedures can then begin.
  6. To start, the doctor will confirm your medical history, ask about your medications, and will generally conduct a physical evaluation to ensure you’re fit to participate.
  7. After meeting with the doctor, you’ll also meet a study coordinator, or research nurse, who will commence other study related tests and procedures. This will include your vital signs such as your temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and may include an ECG to check your heart.
  8. Once completed, the doctor will confirm if you’re eligible to participate.
  9. Depending on the study, you may need to visit the clinic for one or more appointments to receive the study treatment.
  10. Once treatment begins, you will have follow-up health checks at regular intervals to ensure that you are remaining well, and to see how the treatment is performing.
  11. We may also ask you to use an electronic diary on your phone or a tablet to record how you’re feeling at home.
  12. You may also receive phone calls from our team to check you’re feeling well throughout the duration of the study.
  13. Our team may call you to check you’re feeling well throughout the duration of the study.

And that’s it! Thank you for taking the time to consider joining a clinical trial and contributing to medical knowledge.
