Gastroenterology

Here at Momentum Clinical Research, we are proud to contribute to improving the quality of lives of those affected by gastrointestinal conditions through innovative clinical trials. We have managed clinical trials that explore groundbreaking treatments for Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, coeliac disease and related gastrointestinal disorders, aiming to offer new therapeutic options and improve outcomes for patients living with these chronic conditions.

Overview

Gastroenterology focuses on disorders of the digestive system, including conditions like Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), and celiac disease. These chronic conditions can significantly impact quality of life, causing symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhea, fatigue, and weight loss, often leading to long-term health challenges.

Treatment progress

Current treatments include medications such as biologics, immune-modulators, and steroids, aimed at reducing inflammation and managing symptoms. However, these treatments don't work for everyone, and side effects can limit their use. This is where clinical research becomes vital.

Ongoing and upcoming studies are investigating new therapies, including advanced biologics, oral medications that target the immune system more precisely, and microbiota-based treatments aimed at restoring gut health.

Clinical research plays a critical role in finding better, more effective solutions. By participating in clinical trials, individuals can contribute to advancing medical knowledge and help develop new therapies that could improve the lives of millions living with gastrointestinal disorders.

Our history

Momentum research clinics have been involved in studies that investigate biologic therapies for severe inflammatory bowel disease, as well as exploring safer, non-absorbed oral medications that target mild to moderate cases. We have researched treatments to reduce IBS Celiac disease symptoms.  These studies aim to improve outcomes for patients with complex and chronic gastroenterological conditions.

Previous studies

Recent research has included studies looking at:

  • Evaluating the efficacy of a potential novel Gastrointestinal ReProgramming (GaRP) dietary supplement in reducing symptoms associated with IBS.
  • Testing a new investigational treatment for people with coeliac disease to determine how well the investigational treatment is tolerated and if it reduces the immune response to gluten.
  • A study investigating a new potential treatment for Ulcerative Colitis.
  • A clinical research study testing a new investigational treatment that aims to prevent immune cells from reacting to gluten in people with Coeliac Disease.
